GENERAL INFORMATION ON SCHOLARSHIPS  

Sabanci Foundation scholarships are given to successful students who have financial difficulties to continue their university education. Scholarships are not bound to any repayment or service obligation in return. Scholarships are monthly transferred to the recipient student's bank account between October and June.

Each year, a "University Admission Scholarship" is granted to those students with outstanding performances in that year's National Undergraduate Placement Exam, along with the grants provided to "Graduates of High Schools in provinces with a priority in development" and "Handicapped Students" with outstanding performance in the same Examination. Besides, "Sabanci Foundation-Vista Scholarship" has been put into practice by the grants of Vista Tourism and Travel Agency beginning from academic year of 2009-2010.

More than 35,000 students have benefited from the scholarships provided by Sabanci Foundation since its establishment in 1974. Each year more than 380 students - including the new Sabanci Foundation-Vista Scholarships - start to benefit from the grants. Scholarships are given to 1300 students in total each year.

Each year, a "University Admission Scholarship" is granted to those students with outstanding performances in that year's National Undergraduate Placement Exam. The scholarships have being given under the following circumstance:

University Admission Scholarship

This scholarship is provided to those successful students lacking financial means who achieve minimum score determined by Sabanci Foundation in the Undergraduate Placement Exam and who are placed to the universities to which Sabanci Foundation provided scholarship quota.

 

Scholarships are posted at our web site and announced at the universities following the declaration of the Undergraduate Placement Exam results. Students make their application to the Scholarship Office or Student Affairs of the university in which they are enrolled from 15th of September to 15th October. Then the relevant university evaluate eligible applicants by taking the success and the financial needs of the student into consideration and notifies Sabanci Foundation.

 

Scholarships for Provinces with Priority in Development

 

This scholarship is granted to one student from each 15 provinces chosen by Sabanci Foundation. The student must have achieved the highest score in the Undergraduate Placement Exam in his or her province. After designating the eligible students for the scholarship, Sabanci Foundation notifies the universities in which the scholarship recipients enrolled in and the scholarship recipient are notified by the universities.

Disabled Students Scholarship

 

This scholarship is granted to students in three groups: Visually-impaired, orthopedically-impaired and hearing-impaired. Five students who rank top five scores in the Undergraduate Placement Exam in each group shall be entitled to such scholarship if they are enrolled with the universities for which Sabanci Foundation has a quota. Students eligible for the scholarship are identified by Sabanci Foundation from lists received from the Student Selection and Placement Centre, and notified to the universities in which the scholarship recipients enrolled in and the scholarship recipient are notified by the universities.

Sabanci Foundation-Vista Scholarship Program

In partnership with Sabanci Foundation, VISTA Tourism Company is launching a new scholarship program for students enrolled in departments of Tourism and Travel Services or  Tourism and Hotel Management  at two year Vocational Schools in Turkish Universities.

 

Eligibility Criteria and Summary of Guidelines are as follows:

The main eligibility criteria is the student’s GPA (Grade Point Average) from secondary school- which must be 65 or above.

Applications can only be accepted for universities which have quotas for the Sabanci Foundation-Vista scholarship program.

Applications must be made directly to the scholarship office of the university between 15 September and 15 October each year.

Other Scholarships

In addition, scholarships by conditional donations are granted to those students having their primary and secondary education in such schools determined by designated by the donors. These students are generally enrolled in Sabanci schools and have outstanding academic performances.

Continuation of Scholarship

For University Admission Scholarship, a student showing a successful academic performance will be given the scholarship during the  regular academic year of  the department in which the student is enrolled . Sabanci Foundation-Vista Scholarship is given at most for 2 years and the preparatory year is not included in the scholarship program. For undergraduate students, the scholarship is paid during the normal education period, however this period for preparatory year is maximum one year. Success and disciplinary status of holders of scholarships shall be checked by contacting the education institution at the beginning of each  semester to get information about the position of the student.

 

Students, who are registered for universities that are not included in our scholarship quota of universities, should transmit their original academic reports to Sabanci Foundation twice a year with the condition to be in September and in February. Students without academic reports declared, failing students, students subject to disciplinary action, dismissed students or students found to have been receiving a scholarship from another source will be dropped from the scholarship list.
